It may be difficult to remember because of the Falcons’ collapse during the 2013 season but it wasn’t long ago they were considered Super Bowl contenders. Las Vegas odds-makers don’t expect the Falcons to be among the top teams next season but neither do they foresee another dog season.

The Falcons opened at 25-to-1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX at Bovada.lv. They are tied for the seventh overall choice with Carolina, Cincinnati, Chicago and Philadelphia and trail NFC foes Seattle, San Francisco, Green Bay, and New Orleans.

The Seahawks are 9-to-2 favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions with the 49ers the second choice at 7 1/2-to-1. The Broncos are 8-to-1 to win Super Bowl XLIX, the Patriots are 14-to-1, the Packers 16-to-1 and the Saints 18-to-1.

Expectations were high for the Falcons in 2013 after they’d beaten the Seahawks in the 2012 divisional playoffs and came up a few yards short of defeating San Francisco in the NFC championship game.
