Falcons have $30.6 million under salary cap for free agency

FLOWERY BRANCH — The 2016 NFL salary cap is set at a record $155.27 million, with final team positions still to be announced, according to the NFL Players Association.

Team positions combine the league-wide salary cap with each team’s carryover and other adjustments from the previous league year. The Falcons elected to roll over unused salary-cap space from 2014. The amount was $3,905,771.
When free agency starts, the Falcons are projected to be $30.6 millon under the cap, by spotrac.com.

With the league-wide cap number in place, official franchise and transition tag values have been set.

The NFLPA tracks team spending in order to make sure the players are receiving their collectively bargained for share of the league’s profits.
