Tight end Tony Gonzalez has maintained that he’s 95 percent sure he will retire after this season. But Thursday he hinted that his decision could be influenced by how far the Falcons advance in the playoffs.

“After last week it went up a couple percentage points,”he said. “Maybe if we win this week it goes to 99. I don’t want to toy with that number. The only reason I’ve been at 95 percent is because I don’t want to shut that window.”

Gonzalez, 36, was voted to his 13th Pro Bowl this season and Sunday won his first playoff game in six tries. He said he believes he could play “another two or three years if I wanted to, and at a high level.”

But he added that he’s content with what he’s accomplished and doesn’t want to play just to “chase Super Bowls.”
