Falcons defensive end Dwight Freeney (thigh) returned to practice Thursday after missing last week’s game at Tampa Bay, but said he’s still not sure if he will play at the Eagles on Sunday.

“If I can practice pretty well and I feel pretty good, I will probably play,” Freeney said before practice. “It’s going to be a day-to-day thing, but I think I am definitely trending up.”

Freeney, 36, has seen his pass-rush production tail off in recent weeks. He had just five quarterback pressures in his past three games after he had 18 in weeks 3-5, according to Pro Football Focus.

If Freeney doesn’t play Sunday he will end up having about three weeks off.

“Let me get about 17 days of rest,” Freeney said, laughing. “That’s the reason I didn’t play last week. I could have played, but I was like, ‘Man, it’s a short week.’ I mess around and tweak it and do something crazy and I’m going to be behind the eight ball. I think right now I am in a good spot where I can go out there and help.”
