Evolution of the Falcons stadium design

First revealed in April 2013, the Falcons' new stadium in Atlanta has taken varying looks through the months.

Since first introduced in April 2013, the Falcons stadium designs have taken shape. Each conceptual look showing something different in every step of the way. The winning architecture firm, Kansas City's 360 Architecture, presented two conceptual designs. The "Solarium" featured a more traditional stadium look in which the roof opened from opposite ends of the field with a compact opening.

The original design introduced an oval opening in the roof over the playing field.

The Falcons chose the "Pantheon" design. The original design features layered glass panels that upon first glance look like a nest of a sitting bird.

The original designs gave a glimpse at more open areas for fans.

In September 2013 renderings the stadium takes a new shape with new elevations.

In September 2013, the renderings offer a new feel for the open roof, as well as a peak at the seating bowl and a ground-level view of the fan plaza on the building’s northeast side.

The new elevations offer a glimpse of how the glass paneling will showcase the interior lighting as much as the sunlight.

The roof renderings show how even closed, light will continue to shown down on the field.

In October 2013 renderings depict lighting accents in three different color schemes – red, blue and white.

Designs in February 2014 offer an overview of the opening, showing how the panels weave above the stadium roofing.

Renderings in February 2014 once again reveal more intricate views of the new stadium’s exterior elevations.

A look inside the stadium bowl shows new color patterns on the seats along with a winged design to the bowl.

The workings of the roof are once again showcased in the latest designs revealed by the Falcons in June 2014.

Highlights of this design release include views of the plazas and entryways just outside the stadium.

In renderings released in July 2014 of the new Falcons stadium there are glimpses of the fan experience from the entry plazas.

In the renderings released July 2014, an updated view of the stadium elevation as seen from the north. The designs for the new Falcons stadium has been continually revised since first released in April 2013.
