ESPN analyst Darren Woodson, a safety with the Dallas Cowboys from 1992-2003, checked in on Jalen Ramsey’s comments about Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan being overrated on the network’s “Get Up” show Thursday.

“Two years ago, in 2016, Matt Ryan was the MVP of the league, and I’m not going to go in that direction and say Matt Ryan is overrated,” said Woodson, who was on the preliminary list of nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame last season. “Jalen Ramsey has yet to play against Matt Ryan just yet. But at the same time, if you’re watching Matt Ryan from afar, you are always thinking, he has all of these weapons, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and all of these guys that are talented around him. Why hasn’t he won the big one? I can see a guy like Jalen Ramsey going at Matt Ryan and questioning him being overrated.”

Ryan, who spoke to the media earlier in the week, was unavailable for comment Wednesday when the story broke. He’s not scheduled to speak again until next week. The team does not plan to issue a statement from Ryan on the matter.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn addressed the comments on Wednesday.

Ramsey's comments appeared the Gentlemen's Quarterly magazine.
