Former Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still is having a good week.
Not only is his daughter, Leah, having her last cancer treatment Friday, but Still was signed to a futures contract by the Houston Texans.
The contract for the 2016 season pays the league minimum salary of $675,000.
Still, 26, became a household name after chronicling his daughter’s cancer journey on social media. Leah was diagnosed with cancer in June 2014, and the Bengals kept Still on their practice squad so that he could maintain the league insurance that would help pay with medical expenses. The Bengals also donated more than $1 million from the sale of Still’s jersey to support pediatric cancer research and treatment.
In November 2015, Still announced that Leah was in remission.
In a recent Instagram post, Still expresses gratitude for his daughter’s health and for the Texans giving him a second chance in the NFL.
