Here’s the QB corner with Matt Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter:

Q: What’s your take on new Saints safety Jairus Byrd?

A: We certainly know what he's capable of. His range is as good as anybody's in this league. His production in terms of interceptions has been off the charts. I think he adds to an already solid defense.

Q: How do you expect (defensive coordinator) Rob Ryan to use him?

A: Scheme-wise it's always tough to tell during preseason what you're going to get, but it's a multiple defense. They can do a lot of different things with him with a lot of different personnel groupings.

Q: What will it mean to the offense to get Steven Jackson back?

A: Getting Steven back is huge for us. He's a dynamic player. He's going to be healthy and fresh out there for us. When he's on the field, that's a positive for us. It adds a lot of depth at the running back position for us. We can go three or four deep and keep putting fresh guys out there that are capable of making big plays.

Q: How can you improve the offense in the red zone?

A: As a quarterback, that means making the right checks when you see certain defenses that you're going against and being accurate. Make sure that we're in the right play. Then when we have the opportunity to make a play, be accurate.
