Falcons offensive lineman Gabe Carimi, the former first-round pick in 2010 who’s washed out with two teams already, will have a lot riding on the fourth and final exhibition game against Jacksonville on Thursday.

Carimi returned to practice this week from an ankle injury. The Falcons want to see him some in action at multiple positions against the Jaguars. The Falcons want to find out if he can manage backing up both left and right tackle and both guard spots, as well.

Most veterans are not expected to play.

“Gabe will play in the game,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said. “He’s had an opportunity to practice.”

The Falcons don’t have a good read on what Carimi can do.

“During the evaluation period, unfortunately he was injured in the scrimmage against the Tennessee Titans and missed basically missed all of the (exhibition) season,” Smith said. “We need to get a good evaluation. He’ll get a look at multiple positions if we can.”

Carimi appears to have missed his opportunity to compete with Lamar Holmes for the starting right tackle position.
