The Tampa Bay Bucs selected Jameis Winston, a quarterback from Florida State, with the first pick in the NFL draft Thursday night.

Winston, the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner as a redshirt freshman, led the Seminoles to the 2013 BCS championship and an appearance in last season’s inaugural College Football Playoff.

He also was at the center of several off-field incidents, including allegations of sexual assault and shoplifting at a Tallahassee, Fla., grocery store.

Winston, 6-foot-4 and 231 pounds, led the Seminoles to victories in his first 27 games as quarterback. Overall, the Seminoles were 27-1 and 16-0 in ACC games.
