Beasley fined for key penalty that aided Arizona’s game-winning drive

Oct 19, 2019

Falcons defensive end/linebacker Vic Beasley was fined $21,056 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness for a play against the Cardinals.

With on first-and-10 from the Falcons’ 34 with 6:22 left in the game, Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray got out of the pocket and was chased by Beasley, who was called for a horse-collar tackle and defensive holding. The holding penalty was declined.

At the time of the penalty, the score was tied 27-27 after the Falcons had rallied from a 17-point deficit.

Three plays later, Murray connected with running back David Johnson for what turned out to be the winning touchdown and extra point.

The Falcons closed within one point, but kicker Matt Bryant’s extra-point attempt went wide left with 1:53 to play.

There is one report that Beasley is on the trading block, according to a tweet from an ESPN reporter.

The trading deadline is set for 4 p.m. Oct. 29.

Beasley also was the subject of trade deadline talk last season.
