Falcons owner Arthur Blank has missed just one of the training camp practices.

He’s been intensely watching the operation and was elated with the signing of defensive end Dwight Freeney.

Here’s what Blank had to say about the signing on Thursday:

“He’s signed. The ink is dry. It’s not even about his stature because his stature could be a statue. …What you’re interested in is can a player still produce. Last year in Arizona he played in 11 games and he had eight sacks and three forced fumbles. He had a high level of production. We think he’s got that capacity left in him. This year, he wants to play another year. He had a lot of options and it’s a credit to coach (Dan) Quinn and our organization that he chose this one as opposed to some other options that he had. He’ll make a difference as a player. We didn’t bring him in as a coach. But I think the younger players will learn a lot from his style, his technique and the way he plays and the way he practices as well.”
