Oregon defensive end Arik Armstead has been in contact with the Atlanta Falcons here at the scouting combine.

“I had an informal (interview) with the Falcons,” Armstead said on Saturday. “I talked with them a little bit. I don’t have a formal with them. I had a brief meeting with them and went over some scheme things. I would think they would like (my size).”

Armstead, who’s 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds, fits the team’s new profile for defensive ends. He studies Mario Williams and Calais Campbell

“I try to look at the players who are tall and playing well in trenches,” Armstead said. “I try get some tape on them and steal some tips.”

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper has the Falcons taking Armstead with the eighth overall pick in his lastest mock draft.
