Coach Will Muschamp is so concerned about finding solutions to the Gators’ woes during the off week he pulled several assistants off the recruiting trail.

Usually a bye week is prime recruiting time, but Muschamp said it’s imperative the Gators improve over the season’s final five games, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

“You go back to technique and fundamentals, you simplify,” Muschamp said. “We’ve got to get our guys playing faster, we’ve got to get our guys playing with more confidence.” …

QB Tyler Murphy should have plenty of time to heal before the showdown against Georgia. Murphy dealt with an injury in his throwing shoulder following Florida’s loss to LSU and was limited in practice leading up to the Missouri game.

The rust showed. Murphy misfired on a potential early TD pass when he overthrew Trey Burton on a sideline out near the corner of the end zone.

In the Missouri game, Murphy finished 15 of 29 for 92 yards and an interception. Murphy’s longest completion was 14 yards.

Georgia: “Really the SEC’s biggest enemy is its depth overall,” tight end Arthur Lynch said. “The quality of the league is pretty impressive. It’s the SEC. It’s the best league out there and will continue to be the best league.

“It’s hard to go undefeated.”

Kentucky: The defense had eight tackles for loss against Mississippi State on Thursday, which is the most it has recorded this season. The previous season high was seven against Miami (Ohio). … Raymond Sanders rushed 15 times for 86 yards. He moved past Alfred Rawls and Tony Dixon for 19th place on the Kentucky career rushing list and now has 1,419 career yards.

Missouri: The Tigers are the first SEC team to beat Georgia and Florida in consecutive weeks since Tennessee did it in 1992. … Mizzou never won a Big 12 title but could claim the SEC in only its second season.

Tennessee: The Vols snapped a 19-game losing streak to ranked teams with the victory over the Gamecocks last week. … Tennessee had a winning record through seven games for the first time since 2007, also a 4-3 start. No. 1 Alabama snapped that streak.

Vanderbilt: Jordan Matthews (3,172 yards) passed former Georgia WR Terrence Edwards (3,093 yards) as the SEC career leader in receiving yards. … The Commodores’ five forced turnovers vs. Texas A&M (four fumble recoveries and one interception) were a season high and the most for Vandy since the Music City Bowl vs. N.C. State (three interceptions, two fumble recoveries).
