Despite some training-camp drama between Atlanta United and midfielder Darlington Nagbe, a person close to the situation between the club and Nagbe said Friday that Nagbe could play for the team this season.
Nabe loves living in Atlanta, the person said.
Atlanta United recently returned from a two-week training camp in Fullerton, Calif., where after arriving a day late, Nagbe was sent home early. He didn’t play in any of the four scrimmages involving the first team, nor did he train with the team in its final five days in California.
Neither Nagbe nor Atlanta United have said anything about the player’s status or future.

There are at least two ways to decipher those decisions: Either the player is trying to force the club to take an action, or the club is showing the player that it can win without him.
MLS teams are allowed to trade players until the primary transfer window closes May 7.
Nagbe is a native of Ohio, which now hosts two teams in MLS, Columbus and Cincinnati. Nagbe also has long-standing ties to Crew coach Caleb Porter, who was his manager in college at Akron and his former MLS team, Portland.
Atlanta United will open its season Thursday in the CONCACAF Champions League when it travels to Herediano in Costa Rica.
