QB CORNER: Q&A with Matt Ryan
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has faced Tom Brady and the New England Patriots once in his career.
The Patriots defeated the Falcons 26-10 on Sept. 27, 2009,when Ryan completed 17 of 28 passes for 199 yards during his second season in the NFL.
Ryan has won 10 of his past 12 games against AFC teams. The losses came last week against Miami and in 2011 against Houston.
Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.
Q: Can the rushing attack help more in the red zone?
A: I actually think we've run the football pretty well down there. It's just that in certain situations we haven't done it as well as we need to.
Q: Do the Falcons aspire to be Super Bowl contenders every year like the Patriots?
A: Everybody wants to be relevant. That gives you the best chance of winning Super Bowls. They have done a great job of that really over the last decade. They've been consistent, but I think everyone has that mindset that they want to be in the hunt every year.
Q: Are you worried about falling behind the Saints (3-0) in the NFC South?
A: First and foremost, we just need to worry about us. We can't worry about what everybody else is doing at this time of the year.
Q: What do think of New England tackle Vince Wilfork?
A: Probably the most impressive thing about Vince is how many snaps he plays. For guys that big, there is usually a lot of rotation between the defensive line and his plays. I don't know what the percentage is, but he's always in there.
