Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and his revamped offensive line will face another tough defensive front against the New York Jets.
Ryan has won 10 of his past 13 games against AFC teams, but two of the losses have been this season to Miami and New England. He also lost to Houston in 2011.
Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.
Q: How do you handle the critics of the Falcons’ 1-3 start?
A: You have to be able to eliminate the noise from the outside when things are good or bad. We've kind of had both of those in this locker room. We've had it when people are on the bandwagon and when people are off the bandwagon. It's about trying to eliminate that and staying focused on us.
Q: What’s your assessment of the Jets’ defense?
A: Their front seven is extremely physical. They are in a 3-4 scheme, but they play some four-down and three-down fronts. They are really good against the run. They are stout and are really good pass rushers, too… the Jets' pass rush is really good.
Q: Do you view linebacker David Harris as the ringleader of their defense?
A: Yeah, he's the leader of their defense. At least it looks that way when you watch them on film. He's a very good player. Very stout against the run. A really good tackler. In pass coverage and in their blitz scheme, he does a great job as well.
