Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson did not have an injury update for wide receiver DeAndre Smelter, who left the game in the first half with a knee injury and did not return. Linebacker P.J. Davis and A-back Tony Zenon also suffered unspecified injuries and did not play again. Zenon was available to play, but did not go back in.

They are not insignificant injuries, and a testament to Tech that it overcame each to win. Smelter has been Tech’s best wide receiver by no small margin, and had caught three passes for 44 yards before he got hurt. Zenon has been one of Tech’s two starting A-backs for all but one of the Yellow Jackets’ games, a playmaker in the passing game and a solid perimeter blocker. Davis leads the team in tackles.
