The rich are getting richer in college athletics. That group includes the University of Georgia Athletic Association.

The SEC said Thursday it distributed an average of $44.6 million apiece to the league’s 14 member universities for the 2018-19 fiscal year, up from $43.1 million in 2017-18.

The 2018-19 distribution from the conference office, totaling $624.2 million, consisted of revenue from SEC television contracts, football bowl games, the College Football Playoff, the SEC Championship football game, the SEC men’s basketball tournament, NCAA Championship events and “a supplemental surplus distribution,” according to the SEC.

In addition to the $624.2 million, a combined $26.8 million was retained by SEC institutions that participated in football bowl games for expenses, including travel.

The SEC’s fiscal year ended Aug. 31.
