UGA's Mann named second-team all-conference

Georgia sophomore Charles Mann was named second-team All-SEC by the league’s coaches on Tuesday.

Mann, a 6-foot-4 point guard from Alpharetta, has led Georgia in scoring for the entire season and currently averages 13.4 points per game. He also leads the Bulldogs in minutes played (30.0 per game), assists (3.2 pg), steals (1.1 pg), and free throws made (170) and attempted (246). In fact, his 246 attempts are the third-most in a single season in UGA history, while his 170 makes are the fourth-most in program history. He also ranks 17th and 35th, respectively, among all NCAA Division I players in those categories.

Mann recorded the first double-double of his career this past Saturday in Georgia’s when he had 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ win over LSU.

This marks the second post-season honor the league’s 14 coaches have bestowed upon Mann in his career. He was named to their Freshman All-SEC squad in 2013. He was also named as the SEC’s Player of the Week on Jan. 13 of this season after scoring 40 points over a pair of Georgia victories.

Georgia (18-12, 12-6 SEC) begins play in the 2014 Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
