Georgia, which lost by a single point to Auburn earlier this season, came out on the winning side of a similarly close battle here Saturday.

Overcoming foul troubles and the absence of starting guard Kenny Gaines, the Bulldogs defeated Auburn 64-61 in their regular-season finale.

Guards J.J. Frazier and Charles Mann had 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Georgia. Forward Nemanja Djurisic had 14.

At the end, two free throws by Frazier with 4.9 seconds to play gave Georgia the final margin.

Free-throw shooting was key to the victory. The Bulldogs were 19-for-21 from the line, including 9-for-9 by Mann.

Georgia managed to lead 31-28 at halftime despite 10 first-half turnovers and foul troubles.

The Bulldogs played the game without their second leading scorer and best perimeter defender, shooting guard Gaines. He injured his left foot in practice Thursday, an injury coach Mark Fox described as a sprain.

The victory completed Georgia’s regular season with a 20-10 (11-7 SEC) record.
