Georgia coach Kirby Smart liked what he saw from the Bulldogs during their first practice of the open week.

“It was good tempo today, good enthusiasm. I thought the guys looked a little fresher because (they got) Sunday, Monday off,” Smart said after Tuesday’s two-hour, full-contact practice. “So I thought there was a good tempo, that they got their legs back.”

The No. 10-ranked Bulldogs (6-1, 3-1 SEC) hope several injured players return before their next game, which will be against No. 7 Florida (7-1, 4-1) in Jacksonville on Nov. 2 (CBS, 3:30 p.m.). Smart provided updates:

  • Receiver Lawrence Cager (shoulder): "Week-to-week. He's not practicing right now but he's out there at practice.
  • Defensive lineman Travon Walker (wrist): "We think he's going to be cleared probably by Monday. He's out there running around."
  • Cornerback Tyson Campbell (turf toe): "I thought that was the best he's been in a long time. He practiced for the first time and did things. We just didn't put him in there with the 1s (starters) quite as fast. We tried to slow it down for him some. But he did practice."
  • Guard Justin Shaffer (neck): "Shaffer is still out right now."
