Georgia Tech guard Trae Golden, a transfer from Tennessee, has received an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA. Tech applied for a hardship waiver on his behalf, as Golden transferred from Tennessee to be closer to his father, who is ill. Golden is from Powder Springs.

He is expected to play both guard spots and will add a veteran presence to a freshman-heavy position. Last year, Golden averaged 12.1 points and 3.9 assists per game for the Volunteers. He will have one year of elgibility.
