Alabama head coach Nick Saban was unapologetic Monday about choosing to sign Jonathan Taylor, who was also dismissed from Georgia before signing with Alabama for similar allegations of domestic violence. Here are some of the things Saban said as steadfastly defended Taylor and his signing:

Alabama head coach Nick Saban was unapologetic Monday about choosing to sign Jonathan Taylor, who was also dismissed from Georgia before signing with Alabama for similar allegations of domestic violence. In his defense, Saban admitted, "I think you learn from every experience and we certainly learned some things from this one." Here are some of the other things said as he steadfastly defended Taylor and his signing:

"I think you learn from every experience and we certainly learned some things from this one. I certainly don't condone that kind of behavior, especially when it comes to how females are treated, and that's something we try to create a lot of awareness for with our players and would certainly be very cautious about any player that any character problem, especially something like this, would be something that we would be very careful about in the future."

"We're sorry that it didn't work and we're sorry that there was an incident and we're sorry for the people that were involved in the incident."

"We would certainly be very cautious about any player that had any kind of character problem, but especially something like this."

"While we've created many opportunities for players through the years, sometimes those things have worked out extremely well, we're sad to say in this case it didn't. We all take responsibility for that."

"I'm not apologizing for the opportunity that we gave him. I wanted to try to help the guy make it work. It didn't work."

"I think it's very unfortunate that the guy came here with some very specific guidelines and zero tolerance and obviously didn't live up to that."

"We will continue to try to create opportunities for players and try to help them be successful. And even in Jonathan Taylor's case, if there's anything we can do to help him overcome his issues and problem we will still certainly try and help him be successful. But right now the guy just can't be on our football team."

Saban said on national signing day in February that the lineman Jonathan Taylor "was the kind of guy that deserved a second chance." The coach said Taylor had been undergoing counseling without missing a session. "He was in those programs, and it didn't work."

"I still think he's a good person. I think he has a problem and a circumstance and a situation that is not acceptable."
