Tech paired with Northwestern in Big Ten/ACC Challenge

May 1, 2014

Georgia Tech will keep its participation in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge localized to teams from the state of Illinois for the fifth year in a row.

After playing Northwestern in 2010 and 2011 and then Illinois the past two seasons, the Yellow Jackets will face Northwestern again Dec. 3 in Evanston, Ill. The Wildcats won the 2010 and 2011 games. Tech broke a five-game losing streak in the challenge last December with a win over the Illini.

Tech also announced its participation in the Old Spice Classic tournament over Thanksgiving week. The Jackets will join a field that includes NCAA tournament teams Kansas, Michigan State and Tennessee, as well as Marquette, Rhode Island, Rider and Santa Clara.

In the nonconference schedule, the Jackets will also play Dayton on the road and have home games against Georgia, Charlotte and Vanderbilt.
