Flashing her pink fingernails, Nicki Meyer said she's excited about two things: Georgia Tech's important volleyball matches on Friday and Saturday, and that Saturday's match against Duke is a Dig Pink event.

You see, Meyer, daughter of Florida football coach Urban Meyer,  loves volleyball and she loves the color pink.

So, while the players will wear their pink jerseys this weekend against Duke to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, Meyer will take a couple of extra steps: pink hair ribbon, pink head band ...

"I'll put on as much as they'll let me do," she said.

Pink tape?

"I wish. That'd be awesome."

Meyer, a freshman, has appeared in four sets this season as a libero/defensive specialist.

Though her dad is a Gator and she's a Yellow Jacket living in a state that is somewhat focused on the Bulldogs, Meyer said she's enjoying herself in Atlanta and that she hasn't tired of smack talk from Georgia fans.

"That rivalry never gets old to me," Meyer said. " I think it's fun. I think it's more crazy up here than it is in Gainesville."
