Georgia Tech’s graduate transfer addition doesn’t look like a game-changer, but the Yellow Jackets need all the help they can get.
Jodan Price, a guard/forward from Eastern Michigan, will be transferring to Tech, according to a person familiar with the situation. Price graduated from Eastern Michigan in the spring. Price, listed at 6-foot-7 and 172 pounds, mostly came off the bench for the Eagles this past season. In 15.9 minutes per game, he averaged 4.2 points and 1.4 rebounds. He is capable of some scoring pop; he reached double figures in four games, including a 19-point game against Central Michigan in which he was 5-for-7 from 3-point range. In Dec. 2014, he led all scorers with 11 in Eastern Michigan’s 45-42 upset of Michigan.
He has one year of eligibility and can play immediately.
With only 10 scholarship players – four of whom are freshmen – Tech is in need of depth for coach Josh Pastner’s first season. After graduating five players from the 2015-16 team that contributed 76 percent of the team’s scoring and 66 percent of its rebounding. The Jackets will also not have guard Travis Jorgenson, who had two years of eligibility remaining but is not returning.
Tech is also interested in another graduate transfer from the state of Michigan, Western Michigan forward Kellen McCormick. The son of Michigan great Tim McCormick, who played one season with the Hawks, the 6-foot-8, 215-pound McCormick came off the bench for all 32 of the Broncos’ games this past season. he distinguished himself with 45.8 percent shooting from 3-point range on 49-for-107 shooting. He averaged 6.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
