Kicker Joseph Bulovas announced he withdrew his commitment from Georgia Tech on Monday.

Bulovas, one of the top kickers in the recruiting class of 2017, announced his commitment to Tech in June. Bulovas had his official visit to Tech this past weekend. He went on an official visit to Mississippi State the weekend prior.

The 3-star senior from Mandeville High School in Mandeville, La. announced that he withdrew his commitment from Tech in a post on Twitter, writing, “I would like to thank coach Johnson for the opportunity to play and be a part of his program, but after lots of prayer and talks with my parents, it is in my best interest that I will decommit. It is nothing that Georgia Tech did or didn’t do, simply I feel (that I) have better opportunities elsewhere.”

Bulovas was one of two specialists in Tech’s 2017 signing class along with punter Pressley Harvin. Bulovas is the third Tech commits to withdraw his commitment this year following Ocala, Fla. cornerback OJ Tucker and Jacksonville, Fla. offensive lineman Demetris Harris.

Bulovas, 6-foot, 205 pounds, received his offer from Mississippi State in September followed by an offer from Syracuse in October.

Along with Tech commit and linebacker Bruce Jordan-Swilling, Bulovas represented Georgia Tech at the US Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 7 in San Antonio, Texas.
