After having Sunday off, Georgia Tech returned to the practice fields Monday, also the first day of the semester. Coaches assembled scout teams and began preparation for the season opener against Wofford Aug. 30.

“It was like most of (the practices) when you start back the first day of class,” coach Paul Johnson said. “I thought tempo could have been a little better, but I’ve seen worse.”

It was the 20th practice of the preseason. There will be four more practices this week followed by off days Saturday and Sunday, and then five practices starting next Monday leading up to the opener.

Quarterback Justin Thomas, who said he feels “100 percent,” was glad to start preparing, “getting looks that the opponent’s going to be giving us and just trying to get as much muscle memory as possible.”
