Georgia Tech coach Geoff Collins received a signing-day surprise in the form of four-star quarterback Jeff Sims.

After withdrawing his commitment to Florida State last week, Sims announced his decision Wednesday morning, choosing Tech over Maryland and Florida State. Sims, from Sandalwood High in Jacksonville, Fla., made the announcement at his school’s signing-day ceremonies.

Sims becomes the second quarterback in the class, joining Tampa (Fla.) Plant High’s Tucker Gleason, and the fifth four-star prospect (247Sports Composite) to sign with the Jackets in the 2020 class. Sims, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, is ranked the No. 206 player nationally and the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback in the class.
