Georgia Tech safety Isaiah Johnson has practiced without problem after returning from a hamstring injury that kept him out of the Tulane game. Johnson had three tackles in the season opener against Wofford after sitting out the 2013 season recovering from a torn ACL.

“He’s still getting used to the conditioning level of playing every snap and everything,” defensive backs coach Joe Speed said. “That part, it’ll come back. He’s fine.”

His return, as well as the return of cornerback Lynn Griffin from a two-game suspension for a violation of the Tech student-athlete code of conduct, creates a bit of a logjam in the secondary. Defensive coordinator Ted Roof does not lack for options among defensive backs. Griffin, a projected starter after the spring, is working with the second team this week.

“He’s got to come back and earn his spot,” Roof said. “We’re going to give him opportunities to and then we’ll see.”
