Georgia Tech returned to practice Monday after a two-day break, working out in full pads. Coach Paul Johnson called it “a good day” of practice.

To A-back Charles Perkins, the benefit of the rest was evident.

“I thought the guys, coming off a two-day weekend, getting a little rest, not playing, we flew around today, got some good work done,” Perkins said.

Tech will be at an advantage in preparation compared to the Hurricanes. Miami has not had either of its open dates yet, playing Duke Saturday while the Yellow Jackets had their feet up. After playing two Saturdays ago against Virginia Tech, the Jackets practiced three days last week, getting more rest and practice time in advanec of Saturday’s game than Miami. Typically, Tech’s Monday practice is devoted to correcting errors from the previous game and conducted in shoulder pads and shorts. This Monday, Tech rehearsed its game plan for the Hurricanes.

A light rain fell during practice, but the team remained outside rather than repair to the indoor facility.

“It was good,” Johnson said. “We don’t get to practice wet-ball stuff a lot.”
