Georgia Tech A-back Tony Zenon will not be able to play in the Orange Bowl. Zenon has torn his ACL, according to a Miami Herald report. Johnson spoke Wednesday at a news conference in Hollywood, Fla., promoting Tech’s appearance in the New Year’s Eve bowl game. Zenon was injured in the ACC championship game this past Saturday.

After a remarkable run of good health, the Yellow Jackets have lost noteworthy players to season-ending leg injuries in three consecutive games – A-back Broderick Snoddy’s broken leg against Clemson, wide receiver DeAndre Smelter’s torn ACL against Georgia and now Zenon’s ACL tear against Florida State.

Zenon played a big role in the Jackets’ success this season, starting 12 of 13 games at A-back in his first season receiving regular playing time. He was effective at all three facets of the position, averaging 6.5 yards per carry on 45 attempts, 20.1 yards per catch on eight receptions and becoming one of the best perimeter blockers among the A-backs.

A-backs Charles Perkins, Deon Hill, B.J. Bostic and Dennis Andrews, whose role has increased considerably at the end of the season, will likely take on a greater role in the final game with Zenon out.
