Kennesaw State athletic director Vaughn Williams said he will meet this weekend with men’s basketball coach Lewis Preston to decide when he will return. Preston took a leave of absence for personal and medical reasons two weeks ago.

Williams, in San Diego for the NCAA convention, said he doesn’t know the return date.

“We want to make sure he is better and fit to come back and do what he needs to do,” Williams said.

Preston, formerly an assistant at Penn State, is in his third year at Kennesaw State. The Owls went 3-28 in his first year, 3-27 last year and are 4-14 this year.

The Owls are 1-2 under assistant coach Jimmy Lallathin, who was named interim coach. They will play at Lipscomb on Thursday.

“I’m looking forward to him coming back,” Williams said.
