Since his arrival in Athens, Mark Richt has hired some long-tenured coordinators to coach his offense and defense.

Brian Schottenheimer has served as offensive coordinator with the St. Louis Rams the last three seasons after holding the same position with the New York Jets from 2006-2011. He has also held positions as quarterbacks coach with the San Diego Chargers (2002-05) and Washington Redskins (2001). He was the seventh coordinator hired by Mark Richt at Georgia since his tenure began in Athens in 2001.

Jeremy Pruitt joined the Georgia coaching staff soon after winning a national title at Florida State. In his first season in Athens, Pruitt improved the defense from eighth in total defense to sixth in the Southeastern Conference. Pruitt, who also coaches defensive backs, brought Georgia's pass defense from 11th to third.

One of Georgia's most prolific passers, Mike Bobo returned to Athens in 2001 to coach the quarterbacks. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2007. As a coach at Georgia, Bobo has coached three future NFL quarterbacks in David Greene, D. J. Shockley, and Matthew Stafford. Bobo left Georgia to become the head coach at Colorado State.

Todd Grantham served as the defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys before joining the UGA staff in 2010. Grantham installed a 3-4 defense during his four years at Georgia. He left following the 2013 season for a similar job under Bobby Petrino at Louisville.

Willie Martinez came to Georgia as secondary coach in Mark Richt's first year in Athens. With Brian VanGorder's departure after the 2004 season, Martinez was promoted to defensive coordinator. He left in 2010 to coach the secondary at Oklahoma. He is currently at Tennessee ... coaching the secondary.

Georgia was probably the longest tenure Brian VanGorder has had at any school. VanGorder coached Georgia's defense for four years and in that time his teams only gave up 30 or more points once. Six players under VanGorder were selected in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft. He left Georgia to coach linebackers at the Jacksonville Jaguars and his then has held posts with Georgia Southern, the Atlanta Falcons, the Auburn Tigers, New York Jets and more recently Notre Dame.

Neil Callaway joined Mark Richt in his first year at Georgia as offensive line coach and coordinator. Callaway helped guide the Bulldogs to three SEC division titles and two conference championships. He left Georgia to take the head coaching job at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
