Georgia State football coach Trent Miles said linebacker Trey Payne and tight end Keith Rucker could return for Saturday’s game against South Alabama at the Georgia Dome.

The Panthers have three games remaining and must win all three to become bowl eligible.

Payne suffered an injury in practice leading up to the loss against Louisiana-Lafayette. Rucker suffered a hamstring injury during that game.

Rucker, a junior, was coming off a series of his best games at Georgia State and has 24 receptions for 277 yards and is tied for the team lead with five touchdowns.

Payne has 36 tackles and a sack this season.

The Panthers defeated Texas State 41-19 last week, a performance that led to quarterback Nick Arbuckle and defensive back Chandon Sullivan receiving weekly awards from the Sun Belt Conference.
