Who: Virginia Tech

When: 8:06 p.m.

TV; radio: ESPN, 790 AM, 106.7 FM

Last time played: Remembered by Georgia Tech fans as the game in which quarterback Joshua Nesbitt broke his arm, the Yellow Jackets lost 28-21 in a Thursday night game in November in Blacksburg. The Jackets took a 14-0 first-quarter lead and then lost Nesbitt near the end of the first half, leading to Tevin Washington playing quarterback the remainder of the season.

Virginia Tech on offense: Running back David Wilson leads the ACC with 131.8 rushing yards per game and has run for 100 yards in six consecutive games. At 6-foot-6, quarterback Logan Thomas is one of the tallest quarterbacks in FBS, is completing 60.9 percent of his passes and is a threat in the running game. The Hokies' 11 turnovers are tied for the fewest in the ACC.

Virginia Tech on defense: The Hokies have been beaten up by injuries, including a season-ending foot injury to leading tackler Bruce Taylor, but have kept all but two of their opponents under 20 points this year. The defense has piled up 61 tackles for loss, compared to 40 for Georgia Tech. Kyle Fuller, a cornerback who is moving to linebacker for Thursday, leads with 9.5.

Virginia Tech on special teams: As ineffective as Georgia Tech's kickoff return game has been, the Hokies are actually below the Jackets in return yardage in ACC rankings (12th) and are also last in punt net. Virginia Tech expects kicker Cody Journell, who missed the Hokies' last game with a quad injury and is 10-for-13 this season on field goals, to be able to play.

What you should know: In each of the past six years, the winner of this game has represented the Coastal Division in the ACC championship game.
