Nick Chubb continues to show tangible signs of progress, though as expected he will not participate in team drills during Georgia’s spring practice.

“We’re excited about where he is,” head coach Kirby Smart said on Tuesday. “And he’s progressed really well.”

Smart added that he couldn’t say yet whether Smart will be able to participate in summer practice. The junior tailback’s status for the season opener against North Carolina remains uncertain.

Chubb started doing some cutting, rather than just straight-ahead running, since spring break. He began walking on his own last December, a couple months after requiring knee surgery.

“We’re working tremendously hard. He is dead on schedule,” Smart said, adding: “Ron (Courson, the head athletic trainer) would probably say he’s ahead of schedule.”
