Mizzou students react to Gurley suspension
It’s been cold and rainy the past few days in Columbia, but yesterday’s news that Georgia running back Todd Gurley was suspended indefinitely and will miss Saturday’s game against the Tigers has Mizzou students feeling optimistic.
“I think it’ll be easier to beat them without him tomorrow,” junior Allie Gratzianna said.
Senior Corben Gailey liked the Tigers’ chances even when Gurley was a part of the equation.
“I think we were going to win anyway, but now it’s another excuse they can throw at us,” Gailey said.
Like Gailey, senior Chris Fulton thought that people would use Gurley’s suspension as a way to discount a good performance by the Tigers.
“When we win now, everyone will say we only won because Gurley didn’t play,” Fulton said.
Senior Tyler Malloy is excited that the Tigers won’t have to face Gurley, but he’d rather have the chance to see them beat the Bulldogs at full strength.
“I’d rather see him play and beat (Georgia) with him,” Malloy said.
Malloy also didn’t think the punishment fit Gurley’s alleged crime.
“I think it’s a miniscule rule that shouldn’t lead to a suspension,” he said.
