Miami coach Mark Richt apologized Monday for arguing with officials and grabbing the arm of the head linesman in Saturday’s, 34-24, Orange Bowl loss to Wisconsin.

“After seeing TV copy of our game I want to apologize for my language and the putting of my hands on the official and my staff. I did not show the proper respect to the authorities of our game,” Richt wrote in a Tweet.

Richt was visibly upset after he believed a Badgers linemen continually got away with holding on the Hurricanes’ defensive line.

Richt received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that put Wisconsin at Miami’s 5 late in the first half. The Badgers scored on the next play to take a 24-14 lead, after trailing 14-3.

Richt, the former head coach at Georgia, has been Miami’s head coach the last two seasons.
