Georgia Tech has added a 12th scholarship player – Brandon Alston, a graduate transfer guard from Lehigh. Alston, largely a backup with the Mountain Hawks last season, has two years of eligibility remaining. Alston said he informed coach Josh Pastner of his decision Tuesday after making a visit to the school last week.
Alston, from Vienna, Va., averaged 6.7 points per game in 20.6 minutes last season. He shot 45.6 percent from the field, including 35.2 percent (19 for 54) from 3-point range. Alston, 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, graduated in three years from Lehigh and sat out his sophomore season recovering from a knee injury.
Alston also considered South Carolina and Gonzaga, among other schools.
