Last season, Georgia Tech’s offense opened at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with its motor revving. The Yellow Jackets gained 655 yards in a Labor Day loss to Tennessee in a Chick-fil-A Kickoff game.

Quarterback TaQuon Marshall made his first start for the Jackets and rushed for 249 yards. He also recorded 120 yards passing, on five completed passes.

Over the remaining 10 games, however, Tech averaged 365.3 yards per game. The Jackets finished the season with an average of 391.6, which ranked 74th among the 129 FBS teams. An average of 365.3 for the season would have ranked 98th in the nation.

However, the encouraging news for Tech is that most of the players responsible for last season’s numbers on offense return for the 2018 season with the experience gained from last season’s disappointment. The top six rushers are back, and six of the top eight scorers, from last season’s team that finished 5-6.
