Who: Edward Waters at Kennesaw State
When: 4 p.m. Saturday
Three things to know
1. The Owls will be playing their first home game. The game sold out (8,660 tickets) two weeks ago. They will face an Edward Waters team that Kennesaw State coach Brian Bohannon said he will use multiple looks on offense and defense. They could line up for a triple-option play on first down and switch to four wide receivers on another down. The defense will be just as surprising.
2. Kennesaw State throttled East Tennessee State 56-16 last week in the first game for both programs. The Owls rushed for 416 yards and passed for 96. The B-backs weren't heavily involved in the offseason, which Bohannon said he wants to improve.
3. After struggling to stop screen passes in the first quarter, the Owls' defense held the Bucs to just a field goal in the second half. East Tennessee State totaled 328 yards, 98 rushing and 230 passing.
Player to watch, Kennesaw State offense
QB Trey White. White was calm in last week's 56-16 win over East Tennessee State. The Owls seemed to line up correctly on every play, and White rarely got the read wrong when running the option. He had 16 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown and completed 2 of 6 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. Bohannon said the team needs to play harder, pointing that the offense didn't grade as well in the defense in that category in the opener.
Player to watch, Kennesaw State defense
DL Mason Harris. The senior finished with seven tackles, including a sack, as part of three tackles for loss. He also had two hurries and forced a fumble.
Player to watch, Edward Waters offense
QB Sir Jackson. Jackson rushed 17 times for 98 yards, but completed only four of 17 passes for 20 yards in a 51-7 loss to Morehouse.
Player to watch, Edward Waters defense
Deshea Hooker. He led the Tigers with nine tackles against Morehouse.
