Georgia Tech freshman Kendall Young has been taken off the football team roster, an action taken to help him focus on academics. The team confirmed Young’s status Thursday.

Young had not been practicing with the team in recent weeks. A defensive lineman from Bentonville, Ark., Young was a late addition to Tech’s 2019 signing class, signing in May.

“Kendall is currently not participating in team activities to focus on academics,” read a statement from the team released Thursday.

Tech does not have a timetable for Young’s return to the team.
