Joking around with hosts on 790 The Zone on Tuesday, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said Yellow Jackets fans shouldn't worry too much about the Georgia fans who are giving them a hard time about the Bulldogs' 30-24 win Saturday.
Responding to a comment by one of the hosts that beating Georgia is a quality of life issue for the fans, Johnson had this to say:
"Oh, it's a quality of life issue for the fans? Well, I'm worried about Georgia Tech football. Certainly we want to win the game. Get thick skin. Guy giving you a hard time and you get tired of it, punch him in the face. It's like anything else. It's just like I'm sure that they gave Georgia fans a hard time a year ago. That's part of the deal.
"All I can say is it's an important game. We tried to show up and we tried to win. We didn't win the game. You think Georgia tried last year? I'm sure they did. Both teams will try next year. When you play, somebody's going to win and somebody's going to lose. It's just the nature of the beast."
Johnson reiterated after Tuesday's practice that the comment was made in jest.
