Georgia State’s Ron Hunter was named the NABC District 24 Coach of the Year on Wednesday. District 24 is composed of the teams in the Sun Belt Conference, the Panthers’ home.
Hunter led the team to the Sun Belt’s regular-season title and to the second-most wins (25) in school history. He was previously named the conference’s coach of the year. He is also a finalist for the Ben Jobe Award and Hugh Durham Award.
The Panthers held their team banquet on Thursday and several players were honored:
Hustle Award: Rashaad Richardson
Best Defensive Player: Manny Atkins
Leadership Award: Devonta White
Coaches Award: Ryan Harrow
Most Improved Player: Markus Crider
Best Offensive Player: R.J. Hunter
