The countdown continues for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as they look forward to the 2019 season opener Aug. 29 at Clemson.

The Jackets won four of their last five season openers under former coach Paul Johnson, outscoring their opponents 206-81. This year’s squad, led by Geoff Collins, faces a formidable challenge on the road against last season’s national champion.

Here’s a look back at how the Jackets fared in their last five season openers.

2014: Georgia Tech 38, Wofford 19 – Zach Laskey rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the win over the Terriers.

2015: Georgia Tech 69, Alcorn State 6 – Marcus Marshall rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the Thursday night matchup against the Braves.

2016: Georgia Tech 17, Boston College 14 – Dedrick Mills scored on a 4-yard run with 35 seconds left in the game in the win over the Eagles in Dublin, Ireland.

2017: Tennessee 42, Georgia Tech 41 – TaQuon Marshall rushed for 249 yards and five touchdowns, but the Jackets fell to the Volunteers in double overtime at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

2018: Georgia Tech 41, Alcorn State 0 – Kirvonte Benson had 75 yards and two touchdown as the Jackets defeated the Braves for the second time in four years.
