This Fourth of July was extra special for University of Georgia legend Herschel Walker.
On a day when Americans celebrated the birth of our country, Walker’s hometown of Wrightsville, Ga., celebrated him. The city dedicated a street to be named after its beloved son.
Walker Tweeted his thanks to the city, along with a photo of him holding his new street sign.

As he mentions in the Tweet, Walker graduated high school in the spring of 1980 before heading to Athens for his storied career with the Bulldogs.
In the 1980 season, he lead Georgia to a National Championship win, and in 1982 he won the Heisman Trophy. He finished his collegiate career with 5,259 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns in three seasons.
