Georgia Tech’s recruiting momentum continued Wednesday, when coaches received the commitment from Hawaii offensive lineman Michael Minihan.

Minihan, 6-foot-2 and 284 pounds, is the ninth commitment overall, the second this week and the third in the past nine days. Tech now has four offensive lineman committed to its 2017 class.

Minihan made the announcement from his Twitter account, saying that "I am excited to continue my athletic and academic career at GEORGIA TECH!" Minihan announced an offer from the school on Monday. He has also fielded offers from Nevada, Hawaii and Air Force, among others.

Pending his signing in February, he would be the second player on the roster from Hawaii, following safety Shaun Kagawa. Of Tech’s nine commits, only four are from the state of Georgia. In the 18-member 2016 class, 12 were from in-state signees.

It is a continuation of Tech’s recruiting forays beyond its home base of Georgia and contiguous states. Last year’s class brought players from New Mexico (defensive end Desmond Branch) and California (quarterback Lucas Johnson).
