Whether Georgia State (1-2, 1-0) wide receivers Donovan Harden and Avery Sweeting play against Liberty on Saturday will be a game-time decision, coach Trent Miles said on Monday.
“He’s working himself back into being in condition for a game,” Miles said of Harden, the team’s leading receiver last year who has to play this season after suffering a broken bone in his foot in August.
Harden did run some drills with the first-team offense on Monday, though he was wearing a red no-contact jersey. He caught 60 passes for 885 yards and seven touchdowns last season, good enough for preseason Sun Belt honors this year.
Sweeting, who suffered a broken collarbone in the season-opening game at Charlotte, also worked with the first team on Monday. He wasn’t wearing a red no-contact jersey.
Starting cornerback Bruce Dukes didn’t practice on Monday. He will also be a game-time decision, according to Miles. He has 14 tackles and six passes broken up.
Nickelback Jerome Smith didn’t practice, but Miles said he will on Wednesday and will play on Saturday. He has 11 tackles and three passes broken up this season.
